Hold onto your hats, folks: Manchester United could be on the brink of pulling off one of the transfer coups of the summer. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, who is about as reliable a transfer ‘expert’ as it’s possible to be, the club have agreed personal terms with Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.
Though United are yet to make a formal bid for the player — they’re reportedly waiting until the end of Euro 2016, at which point they’ll present a €120 million offer to the Italian champions — they seem to have negotiations with the player and his agent, Mino Raiola, done and dusted. The marauding midfielder will reportedly be paid a very healthy €13m a season for his services.
Regardless of the cost, it’s impossible to think this isn’t very good news for United in sporting terms; Pogba is patently one of the very best players on the planet at present, and occupies a role in which United have been particularly weak over the last few seasons.
