EURO 2016: PORTUGAL LIFTS THE TROPHY

Cristiano Ronaldo and head coach Fernando Santos
Portugal has won the EURO 2016 after defeating hosts France 1:0 in extra time after regulation time ended goalless. The final, that saw the early exit of Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo following a hard tackle from France's Dimitri Payet giving him a knee injury, was highly contested as Portugal kept the domineering hosts at bay through out the proceedings. The two countries had their moments as each came close to clinching the trophy in record time, but were not so lucky as the game proceeded to extra time.
Substitute, Eder, came from the bench to score the only goal of the match four minutes into the start of the second half of extra time.
